The purpose of this blog is to keep in touch with alumni, family, and friends of the Texas Iron Spikes, as well as to showcase what makes us THE premier fraternal, service, and spirit organization at the University of Texas at Austin.
Elections were extremely competitive this semester. There were tons of quality guys and ideas during the election process and all of those who won their respective position were very deserving.
With that being said, we would like to introduce you to the Spring 2013 Officer Board:
This past weekend the Texas Iron Spikes hosted all of our families for our annual Parents Weekend. We had a wonderful weekend with our families and it was great to get to meet everyone's folks. The weekend started out with tailgating the Iowa State game, before and after!

Texas Iron Spikes Parents Weekend 2012 Video
This was a great weekend of family and fun. We really appreciated all of the family members who came out and learned just what Spikes is all about. Thanks to everyone who came out for Parents Weekend and we'll see you next Fall!
This past weekend Sigma Chi hosted its 33rd annual Fight Night. Iron Spikes Fall 2012 rookie, Mike Seitz competed in this event. And for the second year in a row Iron Spikes came out on top! Mike Seitz made us proud and Spikes is looking forward for a three-peat next year!
This past weekend Texas Iron Spikes donated $1,000 to Special Olympics of Texas at their Over the Edge event. In honor of this donation SOTX sent Texas Iron Spikes' very own Eric Gardea repelling down the side of the Hilton hotel downtown! Giving back definitely has its advantages and Eric was a direct beneficiary of our donation. Special thanks to SOTX for making this event possible! Check out the photos below of Eric going Over the Edge!
Of course we had some Spikes out their in full force helping out with the event. This event is great every year and we can't wait to get even more involved with other SOTX events!
This past weekend Texas Iron Spikes had their first date event of the Fall semester, Semi-Formal. We rented out a boat and floated across lake Austin and witnessed Austin's sky-line from the water. It was a great time and we're already looking forward to it next year!

This past weekend Texas Iron Spikes hosted our Alumni for the West Virginia vs. Texas tailgate. It was great getting to spend time with all the Alumni and catch up with those who had just recently graduated. This was our very first Fall Alumni event and after this past weekend we believe this will become an Iron Spikes tradition! Some Iron Spikes were lucky enough to meet local celebrity, Scott Fisher, and Longhorn Legend and Heisman Trophy winner, Ricky Williams!
Here are a few photos from the weekend:

This was a phenomenal weekend that we are already looking forward to it again next year. We're excited to see our alumni again this coming Spring and also pumped to re-match West Virginia in Morgan Town next year! See you soon Mountaineers!
Texas Iron Spikes finally brought home the BURNT ORANGE BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP!
Special thanks goes out to Alpha Chi Omega & Texas Wranglers for hosting this great event with an even better cause, directly benefiting SafePlace! We had a great time and can't wait to participate again next year!
Recruitment this semester was very competitive. Tons of great guys came out and it resulted in Spikes taking our largest rookie class ever. We are very excited with the group of guys we have chosen and we know that these 20 young men will lead Texas Iron Spikes in the right direction.
